A 41-year-old man living alone in Korea to support his wife and children abroad was arrested for charges of prostitution with a minor on Thursday.

According to the Saha Police Station in Busan, the man lured a 16-year-old girl he met online to a motel where he had sex with her on Jan. 16. He paid her 100,000 won ($92).

The man is a so-called “Goose Father,” a term used in Korea to describe men separated from their children and wives, usually because the family goes abroad for education.

Police found that the man has been living alone for the last two years.

The police also indicted the motel owner for allowing the teenager to enter.

기러기아빠, 여중생 성매매로 입건


부산 사하경찰서는 31일 여중생에게 돈을 주고 성관계를 가진 혐의(아동청소년의 성보호에 관한 법률 위반)로 A(41)씨를 불구속 입건했다.

A씨는 지난달 16일 오후 9시께 부산 사상구의 한 모텔에서 인터넷 채팅사이트를 통해 만난 여중생 B(16)양에게 10만원을 주고 성관계를 한 혐의를 받고 있다.

A씨는 2년전 처와 자녀를 외국으로 유학 보낸 후 기러기 아빠 생활을 해왔던 것으로 드러났다.

경찰은 미성년자를 모텔에 투숙시킨 모텔업주도 청소년 보호법 위반 혐의로 함께 입건했다. (연합)
