Seoul subway line No. 1 was temporarily suspended Thursday, after an unidentified man jumped onto the tracks.

The man appeared to have thrown himself in front of an incoming train that was headed to Cheongryangni. The incident took place at 7:27 a.m.

Services bound to Incheon and Suwon were delayed until 8:15 a.m. due to the incident.

“We do not know where this man came from. It took us some time to resume operations,” said an official from Korea’s state-run railway operator KORAIL.

서울 1호선서 남성 투신 사망…48분간 운행 중단

24일 오전 7시27분께 서울 지하철 1호선 회기역과 청량리역 구간에서 신원을 알 수 없는 한 남성이 선로로 뛰어들어 전동차에 치여 숨졌다.

이 사고로 오전 8시15분까지 1호선 인천ㆍ수원 방향 운행이 전면 중단되는 등 출근길 시민들이 큰 불편을 겪었다.
