SK Group affiliates on Friday announced a reshuffle that affected six companies including SK Innovation, the group’s holding company. Among the affiliates, SK Innovation promoted 29 executives including its president and CEO Koo Jay-young, who was appointed vice chairman and CEO.

The company also elected its first-ever female executive in the vice president level: Kang Sun-hee, who was named secretary-general of the board of directors and sustainable growth director.

Five other affiliates including SK Energy, SK Global Chemical, and SK Lubricants carried out personnel reshuffling on this day.

“The personnel measures were implemented in an aim to reinforce the responsible management and independence of each subsidiary,” said an official of SK Innovation.

“(The action) will also accelerate growth and globalization, which are crucial in order to attain the company’s vision for year 2020.”

SK Innovation earlier pledged to achieve a total sales level of 290 trillion won ($260 billion) and an operating profit of 14 trillion won by 2020.

It also suggested the key phrase “separately yet together” late last year, underlining the subsidiaries’ independence and cooperation.

Newly appointed vice chairman Koo was appraised for his contribution to a successful split-up of SK Group, as well as his expertise in technology-based business, according to officials.

As for pioneer Kang, she was recognized for boosting the company’s business performance with her professional legal knowledge and management skills.

“We will continue to support capable women so that they may become influential female leaders,” said the company official.
