A member of a popular 1990s idol group has been sentenced again to four years for fraud on Wednesday, the Seoul Northern District Court said.

In April 2012, Kang Sung-hoon, the main vocalist of the boy band “Sechs Kies,” was sentenced to four years behind bars for failing to repay a total of 1 billion won ($900,000) he borrowed from three different people from June 2009 to November 2010.

“The plaintiff was released on bail after saying that he would settle with the victims, but no payment has been made,” the prosecution said in the trial held on Wednesday,

The 33-year-old singer said in the latest trial, “I apologize for and regret the incident. I would like to resume my career to reimburse the total amount.”

젝스키스 출신 강성훈, 징역 4년 재구형

사기 혐의로 기소돼 재판을 받고 있는 그룹 ‘젝스키스’ 출신 강성훈(33)씨에게 검찰이 징역 4년을 재구형했다.

9일 서울북부지법 형사 7단독 강영훈 판사의 심리로 열린 결심공판에서 검찰은 “강씨가 피해자와 합의하겠다며 지난해 보석으로 풀려났지만 피해 변제가 이뤄진 부분이 없다”며 이같이 구형했다.

강씨는 2009년 6월부터 2010년 11월까지 3명에게 10억원에 달하는 금액을 빌리고 제대로 갚지 않은 혐의로 지난해 4월 구속기소돼 검찰이 징역 4년을 구형한 바 있다.

법원은 지난해 9월 강씨에 대한 선고 공판을 며칠 남겨두고 강씨가 그동안 반성문을 제출하며 피해자에게 변제 의지를 수차례 보여온 점을 참작, 강씨의 보석 신청을 받아들여 석방하고 변론을 재개했다.

강씨는 최후 변론에서 “물의를 일으킨 점 고개 숙여 반성하며, 활동을 재개한편, 이날 젝스키스 멤버였던 장수원과 김재덕이 공판에 참석해 눈길을 끌었다.

선고 공판은 오는 23일 오전 10시에 열린다. (연합뉴스)
