The state-run railway operator KORAIL said Monday that ticket reservations for this year’s Lunar New Year holidays would start on Jan. 15 or 16, depending on the route.

The reservations are for train services including KTX, Saemaul, Mugunghwa, Nuri, and ITX trains, KORAIL announced.

Tickets for the Gyeongbu Line, which connects Seoul and Busan, will go on sale on Jan. 15 and Honam Line tickets, bound for South Jeolla Province, will be released on Jan. 16.

Unlike previous years, Internet reservations will begin at 11 a.m. and offline reservation in railway stations will start at 7 a.m.

KORAIL official Yoo Jae-young said that the operator plans to provide, on average, 236 trains a day in the upcoming holidays, which is a 26.2 percent increase from last year.

설연휴 열차표 15-16일 예매! 시간대 변경돼


코레일은 설 연휴 열차승차권을 오는 15~16일 이틀 동안 코레일 홈페이지와 역 창구에서 예매한다고 7일 밝혔다.

예매는 오는 2월 8~12일에 탈 수 있는 KTX, 새마을호, 누리로, 무궁화호, ITX-청춘을 대상으로 한다.

첫날은 경부, 충북, 경북, 대구, 경전, 동해남부선 대상 승차권을, 둘째 날에는 호남, 전라, 장항, 중앙, 태백, 영동, 경춘선을 예매한다.

이번 설 승차권 예매는 예년과는 달리 역 창구 대기시간 단축을 위해 역 창구 예매는 오전 7시부터, 인터넷 예약은 출근시간 불편을 최소화하고자 오전 11 시부터 시작된다.

유재영 코레일 여객본부장은 “이번 설 기간에 KTX는 지난해보다 26.2% 증편, 1일 평균 236회 운행으로 역대 최다 좌석을 공급할 계획”이라고 말했다.
