North Korea strongly denounced South Korea's national security advisor Sunday, calling him a traitor and a bad element who, it said, only worked to justify Seoul's hostility toward Pyongyang.

The harsh criticism came two days after a local daily here published a recent interview with the top presidential advisor for national security, Chun Young-woo, in which he claimed the incumbent South Korean government has fundamentally changed the nature of relations between the divided Koreas.

The North's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea said Chun has only offered "false claims" that sought to justify what it called "the Lee Myung-bak administration's hostility toward the North."

"The reckless remarks made by the person who claims to have come up with the so-called 'North Korea policy' and supervised its implementation clearly show the heinous intention of the Lee Myung-bak group," the committee said in a report carried by the North's Korean Central News Agency.

"The outcome of the so-called 'North Korea policy' held by the traitor group is truly severe," it said.

The North Korean committee also claimed Chun's remarks were only an attempt to discourage Seoul's incoming Park Geun-hye administration from adopting a different, apparently more flexible, approach toward the North.

It also warned the new South Korean administration against inheriting the Lee's North Korea policy, saying, "Such rash behaviors will only move up the time of a miserable doom." (Yonhap News)

北, 천영우에 ‘악질분자, 폐물’ 원색비난

북한의 대남기구인 조국평화통일위원회(조평통) 는 6일 천영우 청와대 외교안보수석이 최근 언론 인터뷰에서 이명박 정부의 대북정책에 대한 견해를 밝힌 것을 원색적인 표현으로 비난했다.  

조평통 서기국은 이날 `보도'에서 지난 4일 모 일간지에 실린 인터뷰에서 천 수 석이 `원칙있는 대북정책으로 남북관계의 틀을 본질적으로 변화시켰다' `북한이 나를 강경파로 만들었다' `북에 돈을 주고 평화를 사는 것은 안된다' 등의 발언을 했다며 "천영우놈이 언론에 나서서 이명박 역도의 대결정책을 합리화하는 궤변을 늘어 놓는 망동을 부렸다"고 주장했다.

특히 천 수석에 대해 "사대매국노인 이명박 역도의 눈에 들어 청와대에 들어가 동족대결의 일선에서 날뛰고 있는 악질분자"라고 원색적으로 공격했고 `백해무익한 폐물' `대역죄를 저질렀다' 등의 거친 표현도 썼다.

이와 함께 조평통은 이명박 정권이 새 집권 세력에 대결정책의 연장을 압박하고 있다며 "이명박 역도 패당의 극악한 동족대결정책이 그대로 이어지게 되면 남조선 인민들에게 차례질(닥칠) 것은 더 큰 불행과 재난 뿐"이라고 위협했다.

북한이 천 수석을 비난한 것은 남북관계 경색의 책임을 이명박 정부에 책임으로 돌리면서 남한의 차기 박근혜 정부가 다른 대북정책을 펴기를 촉구하려는 의도로 보인다.
