European Union Ambassador to Korea Tomasz Kozlowski welcomed new entrants of a program to enhance business ties between Europe and Korea during a reception at Yonsei University’s Sangnam Institute of Management, Friday.

The program, dubbed the “Executive Training Programme” (ETP) was designed for executives from small- and medium-sized companies who want to develop exports and investment in Japan and Korea.

ETP in Korea is in its 7th edition this year with some 15 executives to study Korean language and business culture and spend time working in a Korean firm which organizers said will build valuable contacts and insights to help spur business connections in the future.

“The objective of the ETP program is to create a pool of EU executives equipped with the specific business, linguistic and cultural skills and knowledge necessary to operate in the Korean market,” Kozlowski said in a welcome speech during the reception.

Many European diplomats participated in the reception indicating the level of commitment the program has among European governments. Andrea Blasco, trade advisor at the Spanish Embassy and Claudia Olbrich, 3rd secretary in the economic section of German Embassy, as well as European Chamber of Commerce Korea Secretary-General Wolfgang Slawinski and other top European officials in Korea were on hand at the reception.
