James Bond was not a gentleman but actually a troublemaker in the original novel, the writer of the next official "007" novel has claimed.

In Ian Fleming’s "007" series, Bond is originally depicted as an uncontrollable man who drinks several bottles of whiskey in one night.

William Boyd, the British writer penning the next story in the series, said that the Bond in Fleming’s novel was more of an interesting, realistic figure than a perfect and upright person, the Radio Times reported.

“Bond’s father was Scottish and his mother was Swiss, so he didn’t have a drop of English blood in him. He’s not the suave Roger Moore-type English toff at all,” Boyd once said. Boyd, the new writer of the worldwide hit series "007," is attracted by the realistic features of Bond.

“‘I’m a realistic novelist and what interests me about Bond is the human being. There will be no mountains filled with atom bombs or global plagues, no gadgets, no superpowers or preposterous enemies -- there will be an entirely believable psychopath, not a preposterous psychopath,” he said.

The next "007" sequel by Boyd is to be released next year. The story is set in the year 1969 and Bond will be a middle-aged man.
