Mercedes-Benz Korea said Thursday that it will build a parts distribution center in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, with operation expected to start in June 2014.

The Korean unit of the German premium carmaker said it plans to invest a total of 52 billion won ($48 million) into the new facility that will be located on a 18,300-square-meter site in the city, about 77 kilometers south of Seoul.

As the parts center is expected to handle some 35,000 car parts, the company said the time required for car repairs will be drastically reduced while the overall quality of after-sales services will improve.

“Establishing a new parts distribution center will guarantee the stable supply of car parts in the Korean market. We expect to secure both quality service and customer satisfaction,” said Dirk Slabber, vice president of Mercedes-Benz Korea.

The construction work will start in April and is expected to take about one year to complete, the company said.
