Richard Hill, chief executive of Standard Chartered Korea and Standard Chartered Bank Korea, was reelected by both firms’ board of directors on Wednesday to serve a second consecutive term as the head of the holding company and the bank.

His second three-year term will begin on Dec. 17, SC Bank said.

Having started his career in Korea as executive vice president, chief financial officer and head of strategy of SC First Bank in January 2008, Hill became president and CEO of SC Korea and SC Bank Korea in December 2009.

“I am immensely proud of the passion and hard work of our 6,500 staff in Korea and would like to thank them for their strong support. Despite the challenging economic climate I am looking forward to the next three years with genuine optimism and expectation under our brand promise, ‘Here for Good,’” said Hill, who has enjoyed positive media coverage for diligently studying the Korean language.

Hill stressed that SC, the largest direct foreign investor in the Korean financial sector, provides distinguished solutions to Korean corporate clients in Asia, Africa and the Middle East through its broad experience, history and global network across some 70 countries. He added that SC was also offering new choices for its retail banking clients, especially in the fast-growing digital banking field.

Hill joined Standard Chartered in 2006 as CFO of global consumer banking in Singapore, after working for 19 years in the consumer goods industry including a 10-year period in Italy and Greece.
