A 29-year-old woman who disappeared from a small town in western Sweden and was later found is suspected of having staged the disappearance, police say.

The woman, whose name was reported only as Angelica, went missing Sept. 13 after working an evening shift as an instructor at a swimming pool in Mariestad, The Local.se reported Saturday.

She was found two days later in a forest in Gothenburg, bound with tape and showing signs of having suffered physical assault. She told police she had been kidnapped, tied up, kicked and punched.

The radio station P4 Skaraborg reported Angelica has admitted she voluntarily stayed away from home.

The Swedish Prosecutors Office is investigating the case. (UPI)

20대 여성 납치사건 자작극으로 밝혀져

지난 9월 스웨덴 서부에서 일어난 20대 여성 납치사건이 자작극이었던 것으로 밝혀졌다.

마리스테드 부근의 한 수영장에서 강사로 일하는 안젤리카(29)는 9월 13일 저녁수업을 마친 뒤 행방이 묘연해졌다.

안젤리카는 실종된 지 이틀 만에 코센버그의 한 숲 속에서 테이프에 몸이 묶인 채 발견됐으며, 폭행을 당한 흔적이 있었다. 당시 그녀는 경찰에게 자신이 납치돼 폭행을 당했다고 말한 바 있다.

그러나 사건발생 2개월 만에 안젤리카는 자진해서 집을 나왔다고 진술을 번복했다.

스웨덴 검찰은 이 사건을 재수사 중이다.
