Three teenage girls who were allegedly distressed over family affairs and other issues died on Tuesday in what appears to be a joint suicide.

According to police, two 17-year-olds and a 19-year-old were found dead on top of a shopping complex in Gwangan-dong in Busan. Their belongings were found at the rooftop of a nearby apartment building, along with three bottles of soju.

“I heard some noise so I went up to the rooftop with a security guard, but the door was locked. All of a sudden I heard a ‘thud,’ so I went back to my apartment and saw three women lying on the rooftop of the complex,” said a resident of the apartment.

The teenagers were already dead when emergency rescue team arrived at the scene. It is believed that they hurled themselves from the apartment building to their death.

The teenagers met on a website and planned to kill themselves together, police said. Yun and Kim ran away from home on Saturday to meet up with Jeong in Busan.

Investigation by police revealed that one of the 17-year-olds was to receive treatment for depression and the other was deeply concerned about family issues. The two attempted suicide in August when they tried to kill themselves by inhaling fumes from charcoal briquettes.

The 19-year-old was being treated for depression.

Police are investigating the website where the trio met.

인터넷사이트에서 알게 된 10대 여성 3명이 부산의 한 아파트 옥상에서 뛰어내려 숨졌다.

30일 오후 10시30분께 부산 수영구 광안동에 있는 한 상가 5층 옥상에 정모(16•여중3학년 중퇴), 윤모(17•여고3학년), 김모(19ㆍ재수생)양 등 3명이 피를 흘린 채 숨져 있는 것을 인근 아파트 주민이 발견해 경찰에 신고했다.

아파트 15층에 사는 김모(28)씨는 “옥상에서 시끄러운 소리가 들려 경비원과 함께 올라가 확인하려고 했으나 옥상문이 잠겨 있었고 갑자기 ‘쿵’하는 소리가 들려 집으로 가서 창밖을 보니 상가 옥상에 여성 3명이 쓰러져 있었다”고 말했다.

신고를 받고 출동한 119구조대원들이 현장에 도착했을 때 여성 3명은 이미 숨진 상태였다.

경찰은 상가 바로 뒤에 있는 아파트 15층 옥상에서 숨진 10대 3명의 소지품과 소주병 등을 발견했다.

이들이 30일 오후 7시20분께 함께 옥상으로 올라가는 장면이 아파트 승강기에 있는 폐쇄회로TV(CCTV)에 잡혔다.

경찰은 부산과 대전, 광주 등 서로 다른지역에 살고 있는 이들이 인터넷사이트를 통해 서로 알게 된 뒤 아파트 옥상에서 소주를 마시고 투신, 스스로 목숨을 끊은 것으로 보고 있다.

윤양과 김양은 지난 27일 가출해 불꽃축제를 보기 위해 부산에서 정양을 만난 것으로 파악됐다.

이들은 28일 불꽃축제를 보고 29일 저녁 자살장소인 아파트 옥상에서 소주를 마시다가 경비원에게 목격됐다.

내성적인 성격으로 우울증 치료를 받을 예정인 정양과 오빠가 장애인인 집안사정을 고민한 윤양은 지난 8월 여관에서 연탄불을 피워놓고 자살을 시도한 전력이 있는 것으로 조사됐다.

김양은 3년 전부터 심한 우울증 치료를 받아왔다.

경찰은 이들이 서로 알게 된 인터넷 사이트를 조사하고 있다.
