A Dutch court ruled Wednesday that Samsung Electronics did not infringe on an Apple patent for using certain multi-touch techniques on wireless gadgets such as the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

A court in The Hague said that Samsung did not infringe on the patents that Apple has claimed against its Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

“This ruling is a case that confirms our product did not violate Apple’s patents,” said a Samsung spokesman. “Samsung plans on continuously featuring innovative products in the Netherlands market and contribute to the growth of the mobile industry.” Apple is likely to appeal the decision.

Apple filed a suit against its rival Samsung in November last year, raising accusations that the Korean firm’s products infringed on its patents, including ones for multi-touch technology.

The two rivals face upcoming court battles in other European jurisdictions such as Germany, France and Italy.

In June, the same court handed an initial victory to Samsung, stating that Apple infringed on its patent involving third-generation wireless telecommunications technology.

It also ordered the Cupertino-based firm to pay damages for infringements in the iPhone 3G, 3Gs and 4 as well as the iPad 1 and 2.
