The 11th World Korean Business Convention will kick off in Seoul on Tuesday, bringing together nearly 1,000 overseas Korean entrepreneurs from 47 countries and 2,000 domestic business leaders.

The three-day event will offer a wide range of programs catering to each business sector and industry under the slogan of “The Power of Global Korean: Hansang Network.”

The annual convention is organized by the Overseas Koreans Foundation and the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

“We hope to provide an avenue in which domestic and overseas Korean business leaders can reach out to one another,” Thomas Kim, the chairman of this year’s convention, told The Korea Herald.

The convention will feature exhibitions of 350 medium-sized companies and various seminar programs and forums. On Tuesday, the Hansang Business Summit will examine the implications and results of the U.S-Korea Free Trade Agreement. At the Seoul Business Forum, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will give a presentation on its plans to aid foreign businesses investing in Korea as well as past successful cases.

On Wednesday, the convention will hold a business networking seminar and mentoring sessions catering to each specific business sector. In the business service session, discussions will be held on past Korean companies that have successfully expanded their business abroad. The food and dining industry session will discuss strategies for the globalization of Korean food.
