POSCO Engineering and Construction said Wednesday that it has been picked as the most socially responsible builder in a recent survey conducted by a local think tank.

The company received high points for its active overseas volunteering activities, ranking fourth across industries next to Yuhan Kimberly, Samsung Electronics and its parent company POSCO.

The survey, conducted by the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies, questioned some 300 respondents living in the Seoul Metropolitan Area for one month in August.

A total of 53 companies were selected based on their sales and social contribution activities.

POSCO E&C carries out volunteer programs in every region the company newly enters for business.

Another program called “Happy Builder” sends college students to underdeveloped countries so they can partake in construction of schools or volunteer medical services.

Additionally, together with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the company plans to launch additional support programs in Brazil and Vietnam in the second half of this year which will also introduce K-pop music.
