LONDON (AFP) ― Championship soccer club Millwall will speak to the police as it continues to investigate allegations that four Bolton players, including South Korean star Lee Chung-yong, were racially abused during Saturday’s match at the Den.
Bolton striker Marvin Sordell claimed on Twitter that he was taunted by Millwall fans at the southeast London club on Saturday as he warmed up as a substitute.
Sordell, who represented Britain at the recent Olympics, alleged that three other Bolton players ― Lee, Benik Afobe and Darren Pratley ― were also abused while they were warming up.
Sordell said on the social networking site: “It’s 2012 in England and people are still shouting racial abuse at a football game!? shocking. Chungy, Pratts, Benik and I had all sorts of things said to us. The police were standing yards away and did nothing.”
FIFA strips Sudan of win
ZURICH (AP) ― FIFA has stripped Sudan of its 2-0 win over Zambia in a 2014 World Cup qualifier because one of its scorers was ineligible to play.
FIFA says its disciplinary committee ruled that Saif Ali shouldn’t have played in the June 2 match in Khartoum, so Zambia is awarded a 3-0 victory. FIFA also fined the Sudan soccer association $6,430.
Zambia now leads Group D with six points after two matches, and Sudan falls to third place with one point. Ghana has three points and last-place Lesotho has one.
Zambia protested that Ali played despite receiving yellow cards in previous competitive matches, including when Zambia beat Sudan in an African Cup of Nations quarterfinal in February.
African qualifying matches resume in March.

LONDON (AP) ― The Football Association has charged Ashley Cole with misconduct after the England defender criticized the governing body in a vulgar Twitter post.
The Chelsea left back reacted angrily Friday after an FA commission questioned the evidence he gave in defending teammate John Terry against a racism charge.
An FA statement Monday says the charge is “in relation to a Twitter comment which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.”
Cole, who could be fined by the FA, is currently on national team duty with England before World Cup qualifiers against San Marino on Friday and Poland next Tuesday.
He is also set to be disciplined by Chelsea for the tweet, which read “Hahahahaa, well done #fa I lied did I,” followed by a vulgar expression.
