A senior male police officer and his female co-worker jumped out of a window of a motel room in Incheon to escape an internal police investigation into their apparent affair, the police said.

As police are on full alert to enhance crime prevention across the nation, the two police officers apparently panicked when they were caught together at a motel, police officials said.

According to the police, the 33-year-old male senior and the junior female officer working at Samsan Police Station sustained severe leg and back injuries and were moved to a hospital.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency said they obtained intelligence that the two officers, both married, had planned to go to the motel together.

The two jumped out of the window as police tried to check their identity.

The female officer’s husband is also a police officer.

The police said they would investigate why they visited the motel.

경찰간부 모텔서 여경과 뛰어내려, 왜?


인천 한 경찰서 간부가 같은 경찰서에 근무하는 여경과 모텔에 들어갔다 감찰에 발각되자 모텔 창문에서 뛰어내려 큰 부상을 입었다.

이들은 경찰이 최근 특별방범 비상근무 기간을 선포한 가운데 신분이 노출될까봐 두려워 이 같은 돌발 행동을 한 것으로 드러났다.

23일 경찰에 따르면 지난 13일 오후 8시께 인천 삼산경찰서에 간부로 근무하던 경찰대 졸업생 A(33•경감)씨와 경찰관 B(33•여)씨가 모텔 창문을 통해 뛰어 내려 큰 부상을 입고 병원으로 옮겨져 치료를 받고있다.

이날 경찰 간부 A씨와 여직원 B씨는 인천 부평구의 한 모텔에 들어간 사실을 사전에 첩보로 입수한 인천 경찰청 감찰의 미행으로 들통났다.

A씨와 B씨는 자신들을 따라 온 감찰이 인터폰을 통해 신원을 확인 하려 하자 창문을 통해 뛰어 내렸고 두 사람 모두 허리와 다리 등에 골절상을 입은 것으로 전해졌다.

A씨는 결혼해 자녀가 있는 상태이며 B씨도 자녀가 있으며 경찰관 부부인 것으로 알려졌다.

경찰은 이들이 함께 모텔에 들어간 동기 등 자세한 경위를 조사하고 있다.
