South Korean golfer Shin Ji-yai, coming off a dramatic playoff victory on the LPGA Tour this week, has rejoined the top 10 in women’s world golf rankings.

Shin jumped three spots to reach No. 10 on the latest world rankings released Tuesday.

She began the 2012 season as the No. 7-ranked player, but dropped out of the top 10 last month while battling back and hand injuries.

Shin was ranked No. 1 during the 2010 LPGA Tour season.

The 24-year-old picked up her first LPGA win in almost two years Monday, beating Paula Creamer of the U.S. in a nine-hole playoff at Kingsmill Championship. It was the longest playoff between two players in the LPGA Tour history.

Yani Tseng of Taiwan remains at No. 1, followed by American Stacy Lewis and South Korean Choi Na-yeon.

In total, there are five South Koreans in the top 10. Amy Yang, Ahn Sun-ju, Park In-bee and Shin occupy Nos. 7 to 10 in the rankings.

Ahn is the only South Korean inside the top 10 who plays primarily on the Japanese tour.

South Koreans have won five LPGA events this season, and the 15-year-old amateur Lydia Ko, a South Korean-born New Zealander, has also won on the tour. (Yonhap News)
