The lawmakers of the current National Assembly hold on average assets of 1.8 billion won ($1.6 million), excluding the top four extremely rich members.

According to the parliamentary public servant ethics committee on Wednesday, the average assets of 299 lawmakers topped 9.6 billion won.

Rep. Hyun Young-hee, who was recently expelled from the Saenuri camp over bribery allegations, came fifth on the list.

The Saenuri’s presidential candidate and former chief Rep. Park Geun-hye was within the upper bracket with 2.2 billion won.

In clear contrast to the wealthy Saenuri group, left-wing lawmakers were mostly listed in the lower ranks.
