South Korean star and record signing Ki Sung-yueng made his Swansea debut on Tuesday night, as the club maintained their winning start to the season.

In the second round of the Capital One Cup against championship team Barnsley, the latest recruit from Celtic didn’t make a goal but gave his team offense momentum with stable passes and bold tackles until being substituted by Mark Gower in the 76th minute.

The Korean started wearing No. 24 as the red tape concerning his 5.5 million pound ($8.7 million) transfer was cleared in time. Swansea City repeated its strong offense that it had showed in its previous two straight wins.

Danny Graham scored the first goal for Swansea after 24 minutes, and Luke Moore added another in the 14th minute after the break.

The Welsh side stumbled after Bobby Hassell pulled a goal back for the championship visitors with his header in the 24th minute of the second half, but only until Moore slotted his second with three minutes remaining to seal Swansea’s third straight win.

Ki’s compatriot, Park Ji-sung of Queens Park Rangers, played full time against Walsall and helped his side overcome the visitors 3-0 at Loftus Road on Tuesday night.

The 31-year-old midfielder showed his physical tenacity by playing three straight matches from the start to the final whistle.

Shaun Wright-Phillips opened the scoring in the 29th minute, and Bobby Zamora and Jose Bosingwa added a goal apiece in the 66th and 84th minutes.

With the 3-0 thrashing, QPR tasted its first triumph of the season after a poor start with one draw and one loss.

Another Korean midfielder, Lee Chung-yong of Bolton Wanderers, who recently recovered from a shin injury, missed the match against Crawley Town, which eliminated his side in the second round.

Korean striker Ji Dong-won did not make the Sunderland lineup against Morecambe, which won 2-0 on James McClean’s double.
