Samsung to show Note 2, LG to push OLED at IFA

Internationale Funkausstellung, one of the world’s largest consumer electronics exhibitions, will open in Berlin, Germany this Friday.

Bringing together some 1,300 tech companies from 50 countries, IFA will be the stage for global firms such a Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and Sony to feature about 200 high-tech consumer products ranging from smart TVs to computers and mobile devices.

Samsung Electronics will showcase its products in the exhibition’s biggest booth at 8,628 square meters, where the company is expected to unveil its all-new tablet smartphone Galaxy Note 2, as well as transparent displays for enterprises.

LG Electronics, Korea’s second biggest tech company, plans to focus on showing audio and video, and home entertainment products, including OLED and ultra definition displays.

“Our main focus at this upcoming event is to show our strength in next-generation premium displays such as OLED and UD,” said a LG Electronics spokesperson.

LG concentrated on featuring its 3-D technology at IFA last year, he noted.

Last week, LG introduced the world’s first 84-inch UD TV, which plans to hit North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America in September.

IFA, which will be held for 10 days, is among the biggest annual international electronics trade show along side Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
