Hollywood classics fans can look forward to getting their fill of early works by Clinton Eastwood and Steven Spielberg in Busan starting this week.

“Eastwood & Spielberg Early Work Screening,” a two-week event at Cinmathque Busan from Aug. 23 to Sept. 6, will feature a total of 16 pieces by the two Hollywood greats.

Including his debut piece, “Play Misty For Me” (1971), the audience may enjoy early Eastwood films such as “High Plains Drifter” (1973), “The Outlaw Josey Wales” (1976) and “The Eiger Sanction” (1975). Seven of Spielberg’s early pieces will be shown, such as “Duel” (1971), “The Sugerland Express” (1974), “Jaws” (1975) and “E.T.” (1982).

Movie buffs will have an opportunity to watch 10 films, including Eastwood’s “Firefox” (1982) and “Breezy” (1973) and Spielberg’s “1941” (1979), with commentary by film critic Park In-ho.

Eastwood, praised as the miracle of the American movie industry, is a film actor, director, producer, composer and politician who became famous in the 1960s for his Western- style gunman character. In 1971, he debuted his film-making career with “Play Misty For Me,” and soon became one of the most renowned directors in Hollywood. The 82-year-old producer’s latest film is “Trouble with the Curve,” a 2012 baseball flick in which he also stars.

Spielberg, who debuted with “Duel” in 1971, has often been called a genius in his many roles as a film director, screenwriter, producer and studio entrepreneur handling diverse genres including sci-fi and adventure films.

Screenings will be held daily, except Mondays, during the two-week period. Tickets are 6,000 won for regular audience and 4,000 won for Cinmathque Busan members. For more information, call (051) 780-6000 or visit www.dureraum.org.
