Seoul National University ranked 75th on the list of world’s top 100 universities, while Harvard University topped the list, according to the Center for World University Rankings.

U.S. news reports said Harvard University ranked first among the top 100 universities in the world in terms of the quality of the education faculty, research citations, influence and publishing.

Meanwhile, SNU was the only Korean university listed within the top 100. SNU ranked fourth in patents, 34th in alumni employment, and 44th in publishing. However, its composite score was only 46, which is lower than half of Harvard’s.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University held second and third rank, respectively.

The U.S. had the most universities on the top 100 list at 58, while the U.K followed with seven. Japan had five universities on the list.

The Center for World University Rankings is based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and its list of top 100 universities is separate from the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings and Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. Both QS and THE are London-based organizations which have released annual lists of world university rankings based on the universities’ quality of education and faculty.
