The bodies of eight South Koreans who were killed in a helicopter crash in southern Peru last week were to arrive at Incheon International Airport, west of Seoul, late Monday night, officials said.

A chartered Korean Air plane carrying the bodies took off from an international airport in Lima, the capital of Peru, on Sunday (local time), said the officials.

The accident, which caused the deaths of all 14 people on the aircraft, occurred last Wednesday during a return trip from a potential site for a hydropower plant near Mazuco in southeastern Peru. The victims' bodies were recovered Sunday after the wreckage of the aircraft was discovered a day before on Mount Mamarosa at about 4,950 meters above sea level.

Among the deceased were eight South Koreans, three Peruvians, one Dutchman, one Swede and one Czech. The South Koreans were employees of Samsung C&T, the engineering and construction arm of Samsung Group; the Korea Water Resources Corp.; the Korea Engineering Consultants Corp.; and Seoyeong Engineering.   (Yonhap)
