A total of eight governmental organization chiefs were given dismissal or warning notices for their poor performances last year, the Finance Ministry said on Wednesday.

The ministry asked relevant ministries to dismiss two officials ― the heads of both the Korea Livestock Products HACCP Accreditation Service and the Korea Institute of Maritime and Fisheries Technology. The two were given an E grade, the lowest grade possible, by the Finance Ministry in the 2011 Public Institutions Management Performance Evaluation.

Six institution chiefs including those of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, Korea Fisheries Resource Agency and Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning who received a grade D were given warnings.

The ministry evaluates both chiefs and their organizations. Korea Airports Corp. was the only organization that received an S grade, the highest grade possible. Its net profit in 2011 was 119.2 billion won, which increased by 88.3 percent over the previous year.

“The number of people using airports exceeded 50 million for the first time,” said an official at the Finance Ministry.

A total of 17 organizations received grade A; 50 grade B; 27 grade C; 13 grade D and 1 grade E.
