Vietnamese catch 50-kg dragon fish

Two people in southern Vinh Long Province caught a 1.7-meter long dragon fish weighing nearly 50 kilos in the Hau River, near the Ninh Kieu pier in Can Tho City on Wednesday.

After catching the fish, they killed it and prepared it for sale, not thinking to preserve it as an ornamental trophy.

The dragon fish was subsequently buried in Ba Chua Xu Temple yesterday, attracting large crowds wanting to inspect the dragon fish. Many said they wished the fish was still alive, as it was such a natural marvel.

According to the owner of an ornamental fish outlet, dragon fish are often fed to bring luck and wealth, so the find had also stirred the attention of traders in the area.

Dragon fish are a popular variety of domestic fish, with their small head, large, round body and red scales, their dragon-like look has become highly sought after. (Viet Nam News – ANN)

용물고기는 바 차우 슈 사원에 ‘매장’되었는데, 많은 사람들이 ‘자연의 경이’를 보기 위해 사원을 찾았다고 한다.
