Samsung Electronics on Thursday unveiled its first line of laser multifunction printers equipped with the firm’s proprietary chip, aiming to take 30 percent of the global business-to-business printer market.
Nam Seong-woo, executive vice president of IT solutions at Samsung, said the firm will release 11 new models ― four A3 multifunction printers and seven A4 laser printers ― for this year at a launch event in southern Seoul.
The A3 multifunction printers are large printers designed for business environments that are also able to scan, copy and fax, while the A4 laser printers are targeting the consumer market.
“Starting with the roll-out of the printers in Korea in June, we plan to concentrate on entering the European and the U.S. markets overseas,” said Nam. “We will work to join the top tier group for A3 multifunction printers within the next three years.”
Coming with a 7-inch touch-screen user interface and a dual core processor, the A3 printer offers secure printing and document management, according to Samsung officials.
It also allows for printing documents or pictures from handsets through wireless internet connections.
“These are the second-generation models of our A3 printers and we expect people in developing nations to also get their hands on our products by 2015,” Nam said.
