Police in Florida said they arrested a man accused of hiding a camera in an air vent to record his roommates having sex in their bedroom.
Key West police said officers were called to the home Sunday by a 30-year-old man who told them he found the recording device taped inside the air conditioner vent directly over the bed he shares with his 26-year-old girlfriend, the Key West Citizen reported Friday.
"He said he was lying in his bed and looked up at the AC vent and noticed a flash in the vent," the police report states.
Police searched the bedroom of the man's roommate, Edward Raymond Mathis, 49, and discovered a wire from the camera ran through the attic and into the Mathis' room.
Mathis allegedly told police he originally installed the camera in the home's bathroom, but he "got bored and switched it over to the bedroom."
"I asked Mathis why he changed the positioning of the camera," the affidavit states. "Mathis stated it was somewhat hard to have sex in the bathroom. The USB cable was connected to Mathis' Dell laptop, which was located inside in his bedroom."
Mathis allegedly told officers he used the camera to watch the couple have sex and to watch the 26-year-old woman in the shower.
Mathis was arrested Monday and charged with sex offense/video voyeurism as well as possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. (UPI)

미국에서 한 중년 남성이 동거하는 청년과 그의 여자친구 방에 몰래카메라를 설치하는 사건이 발생했다.
플로리다 주 키 웨스트 경찰은 7일(현지시간) 한 30세 남성과 그녀의 여자친구(26)가 쓰는 침실에 몰라카메라를 설치한 혐의로 에드워드 레이몬드 매티스(49)를 체포했다.
피해 남성은 침내에 누워있다가 무심코 쳐다본 통풍구 안에서 뭔가 번쩍이는 것을 발견했다고 한다.
경찰이 몰래카메라의 연결부위를 추적한 결과 매티스 방에 있는 노트북 컴퓨터로 이어진다는 것을 발견했다.
매티스는 원래 몰래카메라를 화장실에 설치했으나 “곧 지루해져서 침실로 바꿨다”고 경찰에게 자백했다. 그는 진술서에서 ‘화장실에서는 성관계를 갖는 게 힘들다’고 답한 것으로 알려졌다.
매티스는 경찰에게 카메라를 이용해 젊은 커플이 성관계를 갖는 모습과 여성이 샤워를 하는 장면을 지켜봤다고 말했다. (코리아헤럴드)
