Children’s products with carcinogenic material recalled

Popular children’s products including Angry Birds and Pororo dolls have been found to contain harmful substances including cancer-causing agents, according to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy on Thursday.

A probe of 782 children’s products and electronics appliances revealed that Angry Birds dolls, Power Rangers robots and Hello Kitty accessories contained harmful phthalate plasticizers while plasticizers, lead, and chromium were found in Angry Bird figurines.

Recalls have been ordered for 17 types of children’s products and 16 electronics goods, all of which are subject to refunds.

유명 캐릭터 인형에서 발암물질을 포함한 유해성분이 검출돼 리콜조치가 내려졌다.

3일 지식경제부 기술표준원은 `앵그리버드`와 `파워레인저`, `뽀로로`, ‘헬로키티’ 등을 포함한 어린이용품 및 전기제품 782개에 대해 안전성 조사를 실시한 결과, 완구 등 어린이용품 17개와 조명기기 16개에 대해 이날부터 판매를 중단하고 리콜조치를 시행한다고 밝혔다.

특히 앵그리버드 봉제인형과 파워레인저 로봇, 헬로키티 액세서리 등에서는 인체에 유해한 프탈레이트계 가소제가 검출됐으며 앵그리버드 피규어세트에서는 가소제•납•크롬 등이 발견돼 화제가 되고 있다. 프탈레이트계 가소제는 암을 유발할 수 있는 유해물질로 알려져 있다.

리콜 해당 제품을 구매한 소비자들은 제품 교환 및 환불이 가능하다.
