Shoplifter pulls sword on security guard

Police in Washington state said they are searching for an attempted shoplifter who pulled a samurai sword on a security guard who attempted to stop him.

Longview police said the suspect, described as a white man wearing a black hat, a black leather jacket and jeans, was approached by a security guard who suspected him of shoplifting at the Fred Meyer store around 12:30 p.m. Monday and the man brandished a 60-centimeter samurai sword and waved it at the guard, The (Longview) Daily News reported Wednesday.

Longview police spokesman Sgt. John Reeves said the suspect had been attempting to take a pair of boots and some alcohol, but he dropped them while fleeing.

Police said they are attempting to identify the suspect.

미국에서 물건을 훔치던 남자가 갑자기 사무라이 검을 뽑아 휘두르는 사건이 발생했다.

UPI통신이 보도한 바에 따르면 지난달 30일(현지시간) 미국 서부 워싱턴 주의 한 가게에서 일하던 경비원은 온몸에 검은 색 옷을 걸친 한 백인남자가 물건을 훔치는 듯한 모습을 목격하고 그에게 다가갔다.

그러자 남자는 60cm 길이의 사무라이 검을 뽑아 경비원에게 휘둘렀다.

현지 경찰은 남자가 신발 한 켤레와 술을 훔치려고 했으나 도주하면서 물품들을 떨어뜨렸다고 밝혔다.

남자의 신원은 파악되지 않았다.
