Under the theme “Living Ocean and Coast,” 106 countries and nine international organizations plan to showcase their marine development and oceanic technology on the southern shore of the Korean Peninsula starting May 12.
The auto giant is one of the seven local corporations to run pavilions during the three-month event along with POSCO, LG, Samsung, GS Caltex and others.
The newly built venue is the largest of the seven, standing 25 meters high on a 1,400 square-meter area.

The pavilion highlights Hyundai’s eco-friendly, resources-cycling management strategy in its structure in line with its slogan “companion for better future,” the company said.
Professor Jang Yoon-gyoo of Kookmin University designed the building with the concept of “Vision Gate.” The renowned architect’s former works include Kring, a cultural complex in Seoul, as well as Gallery Yeh and the Asian Culture Complex in Gwangju.
The pavilion comprises of four exhibition halls under four subtopics ― harmony of the group and humanity, change and growth, technological evolution and vision and the future.
The company plans to stage a combination of three-dimensional visual art show at one of the halls, featuring about 3,500 moving projector boxes that can move up to 32 centimeters.
Also on display are some 150 parts from Hyundai’s Equus and Kia’s K5 Hybrid under the soft spotlight.
“We are expecting a large number of visitors for our exhibitions and other events,” a group spokesman said. “Embedded in the pavilion is Hyundai’s deep interest and passion for the Expo as it envisions the group’s future outlook.”
