LONDON (AP) ― Blackburn eased its relegation worries with a 2-0 home win over Sunderland in the Premier League.

Junior Hoilett scored in the 58th minute and Ayegbeni Yakubu scored his 14th league goal of the season in the 86th.

Players from both teams wore “Pray for Muamba” T-shirts during the warm-up before the game in support of Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba, hospitalized in intensive care following a cardiac arrest during a match on Saturday.

Muamba still recovering

LONDON (AP) ― English soccer player Fabrice Muamba showed encouraging signs on Tuesday in his recovery from a cardiac arrest, three days after collapsing on the field during a match.

Despite the quick attention from medical personnel at the FA Cup quarterfinal Saturday at Tottenham, the Premier League said it will consider improving medical screenings throughout the year.

The Bolton midfielder began breathing independently again and speaking on Monday. He had a “comfortable night” in intensive care, doctors said Tuesday. “It’s still very early in the process,” Bolton manager Owen Coyle said.
