LG Electronics on Tuesday rolled out some 50 products for the Chinese market this year, as part of moves to build up its presence in the country.

About 500 industry people and local reporters attended the launch at Kerry Hotel in Beijing, company officials said.

Especially at the center of attention was the company’s Cinema 3-D TV, whose “bezel-less” design helps users feel more involved in 3-D films, they said.

With the ambitious model, LG plans to step up efforts to expand market share in China. According to market research firm DisplaySearch, the Chinese 3-D TV market posted 7.29 million units last year, the largest globally.

Its 3-D OLED TV, boosting the world’s biggest 55-inch display screen, also attracted attention from participants. The Organic Light Emitting Diodes television is just 4 millimeters thick and offers faster refresh rates and better contrast than liquid-crystal display and plasma TVs.

CNET’s editors picked the TV set model as CES Best and Best of Show during the biggest consumer electronics held in Las Vegas in January.

LG also showcased new smartphones including the Optimus 3-D Max, which supports 3-D editing of mobile content, L-Style phones that embrace the company’s new smartphone design concept and Prada 3.0, a collaboration with Italian fashion house Prada.

“LG Electronics will lead the Chinese market through high-end products with innovative design such as the Cinema 3-D TV,” said Nam Young-woo, president of LG’s Chinese operation.
