Suh Nam-pyo, president of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, will give a lecture on the internationalization of his school at royal Swedish academic events from Wednesday to Thursday, the school said Monday.

Invited by King of Sweden Carl Gustaf, Suh is expected to attend two separate events ― a world university president forum and a royal professors’ symposium.

At the forum, Suh, who is one of the key speakers, is expected to lecture on how KAIST has achieved international recognition.

The forum will also be attended by the presidents of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Ohio State University in the U.S., the University of Hong Kong and the University of Tokyo.

He will then also attend a royal symposium hosted by the king and discuss future cooperation with officials from the Swedish government and universities, according to the school.

“Suh’s visit to Sweden is a valuable opportunity for us to introduce the achievements of our internationalization to academics, government officials and business people there,” said a school official. “KAIST will continue to spearhead the academic and science cooperation between Sweden and Korea.”

KAIST has been continuing its student exchange program with the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) since 2004.

During his visit, Suh is also expected to meet a Swedish nurse who served during the Korean War and recently donated to the KTH for student exchanges between two schools.
