A 69-year-old woman claims President John F. Kennedy took her virginity in the White House 50 years ago when she was an intern, the New York Post reports.
Mimi Alford, a retired New York City church administrator, writes in her book, "Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F. Kennedy and Its Aftermath," that she went on to have an 18-month affair with Kennedy, always calling him "Mr. President," the Post said Sunday.
The book isn't supposed to be available until Wednesday but the Post said it bought a copy at a Manhattan bookstore.
The newspaper said Alford writes that she was just four days into her internship in the White House press office when she was invited by an aide to go for a swim in the White House pool. She says the president got into the pool and talked to her briefly. Later in the day, presidential friend Dave Powers allegedly invited her to an after-work party at the White House residence.
She said she drank several daiquiris and Kennedy later invited her for a personal tour that culminated with the two having sex in a bedroom used by first lady Jackie Kennedy.
"After he finished, he hitched up his pants and smiled at me," she wrote, adding afterward she was "in shock."
"He, on the other hand, was matter-of-fact, and acted as if what had just occurred was the most natural thing in the world."
Alford says she later pondered whether she could have resisted Kennedy's advances.
"The fact that I was being desired by the most famous and powerful man in America only amplified my feelings to the point where resistance was out of the question," she wrote. "That's why I didn't say no to the president. It's the best answer I can give." (UPI)

백악관 前인턴, '케네디와 불륜' 회고록 발간
존 F. 케네디 미국 대통령과 18개월간 불륜 관 계였던 백악관 인턴 출신의 여성이 두 사람의 관계를 상술한 회고록을 발간했다.
이 여성의 이름은 미미 비어드슬리 앨포드(69)로, 케네디가 대통령으로 재직할 당시 백악관 공보실에서 19살의 나이로 인턴을 하고 있었다.
영국 BBC방송과 뉴욕포스트 등 외신은 앨포드가 회고록 '원스 어폰 어 시크릿(O nce Upon a Secret)'에서 케네디와 처음으로 관계를 맺게 된 순간부터 케네디가 암 살되기 며칠 전까지의 일들을 자세히 털어놓았다고 5일(현지시간) 보도했다.
회고록에 따르면 앨포드는 1962년 케네디로부터 백악관의 수영장 파티에 초대받 고 방문해 영부인의 침실에서 그와 처음으로 성관계를 맺었다. 인턴으로 고용된 지 4일 만이었다.
앨포드는 "이것이 나의 첫 경험"이었다며 "나는 매우 큰 충격을 받았지만, 케네 디는 마치 세상에서 가장 자연스러운 일을 하고 있는 것처럼 태연했다"고 회고했다.
불륜 관계는 앨포드가 대학으로 돌아가려고 백악관 인턴을 그만둔 뒤에도 계속 됐으며, 케네디가 암살되기 불과 7일 전까지 두 사람은 잠자리를 함께했다.
앨포드는 케네디가 자신에게 "너도 나와 함께 텍사스에 같이 가면 좋겠다. 다녀 와서 전화할게"라고 말했다고 털어놨다.
그녀는 당시 자신에게 결혼할 남자가 있다는 사실을 케네디가 알고 있었지만 "어쨌든 난 너에게 전화할 거야"라고 말했다고 밝혔다.
앨포드는 케네디가 잠자리에서 자신에게 입맞추기를 거부하는 방식으로 자신과 심리적 거리를 두었으며, 자신도 케네디를 항상 "대통령 각하(Mr. President)"라고 불렀다고 말했다.
앨포드는 케네디가 아들인 패트릭을 잃었을 때 자신이 케네디의 곁에서 그를 위 로했다고 밝혔다.
그녀는 "케네디가 방바닥에 쌓여 있는 위로 편지들을 내게 소리 내서 읽으며 눈 물을 흘렸고 나도 역시 그랬다"고 말했다.
1962년 쿠바 미사일 위기 당시에 대해서도 털어놨다.
앨포드는 케네디가 양국 간의 위기가 고조되자 "나의 아이들이 죽는 것보다 빨갱이가 되는 편이 낫다"면서 한발 물러설 뜻을 비추기도 했다고 전했다. (연합뉴스)
