Mike Arcamone, who recently resigned as chief of GM Korea, is moving to Canada as the new president of Bombardier Commercial Aircraft, the Toronto-based airliner said Monday.

The news comes after GM Korea confirmed Arcamone’s abrupt resignation Friday. Arcamone has been with General Motors since 1980 and was recognized for his leadership in launching the Chevrolet brand in Korea last year.

The carmaker temporarily replaced Arcamone with John Buttermore, GM International Operations vice president.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to lead Bombardier’s Commercial Aircraft business unit and excited to be returning to my home country,” said Mike Arcamone.

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft is a business unit of Bombardier Inc., which manufactures commercial vehicles including airplanes and trains.

“Mike comes to us with a brilliant track record throughout his 30-year career in the automotive industry,” said the Canadian manufacturer’s chief operating officer Guy Hachey. “He brings a unique background of international experience to our team.”

Arcamone completed his undergraduate studies at Concordia University and holds a diploma in Management from McGill University.
