Chinese firm makes Steve Jobs action figure

A China-based company plans to begin shipping a realistic-looking Steve Jobs action figure in February.

It remained to be seen whether Apple will take to the courts to block In Icons from selling the 30.4-centimeter (one foot) tall dolls crafted in the image of the renowned California company's late co-founder.

An In Icons website on Tuesday featured images of the jointed figure in classic Jobs poses accompanied with quotes including "The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do."

The $99 dolls depict Jobs with a closely cropped beard and his familiar round "John Lennon" style eyeglasses. Accessories available at extra cost included his trademark sneakers, blue jeans, and black turtle neck sweater.

Last year, the maker of iPhones, iPads, iPods and Macintosh computers blocked the sale of unauthorized Steve Jobs bobble-head dolls made by a different company in China.

Jobs died on October 5 at the age of 56 after a years-long battle with cancer. (AFP)

스티브 잡스, 움직이는 액션피겨로 제작된다

지난해 10월 사망한 애플의 공동창업 주 스티브 잡스가 관절이 움직이는 인형인 '액션 피겨'로 제작된다고 폭스뉴스 등 미국 언론들이 3일(이하 현지시간) 보도했다.

중국의 인형제작업체 인아이콘스는 12인치(30㎝) 크기의 스티브 잡스 액션피겨를 제작해 오는 2월부터 판매에 들어갈 계획이라고 밝혔다. 가격은 99.99달러.

이 인형은 잡스의 트레이드 마크였던 무테 안경과 터틀넥 셔츠, 청바지 차림으로 뉴밸런스 운동화를 신고 있는 등 정교하게 제작됐다.

이 인형 세트에는 한쪽을 베어먹은 것을 포함한 두 개의 사과, 여분의 손 3쌍 등도 포함돼 있다.

잡스의 액션피겨가 만들어진다는 소식이 전해지자 3일 오전 인아이콘의 홈페이지 접속이 거의 이뤄지지 않는 등 여전히 식지 않은 잡스의 인기를 실감하게 했다고 폭스뉴스는 전했다.

미국 언론들은 그러나 이 액션피겨가 실제로 판매될 수 있을지는 미지수라고 전했다.

애플의 변호사는 "잡스는 그의 이름이나 이미지가 제품에 이용되는데 동의하지 않았다"고 강조했다.

인아이콘스는 미국 언론들의 코멘트 요구에 응하지 않았다.
