A 99-year-old Italian man filing for divorce from his 96-year-old wife said he found letters from an affair she had 50 years ago.
The Rome man, a Sardinia native who has been married to his wife for 77 years, came across letters she sent to a former lover during the late 1950s, the ANSA news agency reported Thursday.
The woman has not taken steps to contest the divorce, ANSA said.
The couple have five children, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. (UPI)
伊 99세 남성 최고령 이혼 소송
이탈리아에서 올해 99세인 남편이 부인을 상대로 이혼을 청구해 세계 최고령 이혼 기록을 세울 전망이다.
이탈리아 남성 안토니오 C는 크리스마스 며칠 전 부인 로자 C(96)가 1940년대 외도를 했었다는 사실을 알고 이혼 소송을 제기했다고 영국 일간 텔레그래프가 29일(현지시간) 보도했다.
결혼 생활 80여 년 만에 파경 위기를 맞은 이들 부부는 현재 별거 준비에 들어갔다.
두 사람 사이에는 5명의 자녀와 12명의 손자, 1명의 증손자가 있다.
현지 언론은 남편이 사르데냐 섬, 부인은 나폴리 출신이라는 점을 들어 부부의 불화는 이들의 남부 기질 탓이라고 전했다.
법원에서 이혼이 확정되면 이들은 2009년 98세에 이혼한 영국의 동갑내기 부부의 기록을 깨고 최고령 이혼부부가 된다.
