LG Group said Monday that 12,000 employees at its seven affiliates will participate in 30 different kinds of year-end social contribution activities.

With a theme focusing on love and sharing, the LG Welfare Foundation will be taking part in making kimchi and delivering the group’s electronic products to the underprivileged throughout this week, according to LG officials.

The group’s other affiliates, including employees of LG Electronics’ Pyeongtaek plant, will also participate in making kimchi at a senior community center in the area.

LG’s flagship unit LG Electronics will launch an event called “Life’s Good Day” and prepare a separate meal plan ― which includes a donation sum made available by saving up on food material costs ― for employees’ voluntary selection. The funds will be delivered to the Red Cross.

LG Display will also join a kimchi making event in Paju and Gumi later this month and select some messages posted on its community board to send gifts to children of low-income families in mid-December.

In a related effort, LG Chem will dispatch its employees in Yeosu, Cheongju, Ochang and Naju this month to deliver briquettes and rice to low income families there and also send LG’s living goods to the overseas family members of foreign wives living in Korea.
