Euh Yoon-dae, chairman and CEO of KB Financial Group, on Monday was appointed to the board of directors of the Institute of International Finance, the world’s largest industry group of financial institutions.

KB said in a statement that Euh, the former head of the Presidential Council on National Branding, was selected to join the board on a three-year term at its annual conference in Washington last week.

“Euh’s 30 years of experience in international finance would help the organization better tackle the ongoing credit crunch problem in the global market,” an official at KB Financial said.

A former president of Korea University, Euh served as advisor to the Education Ministry, the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Public Fund Oversight Commission. He was named to head the KB Financial Group in July 2010.

IIF represents most of the world’s largest commercial and investment banks and coordinates pending issues in global finance with policymakers.
