CLEVELAND (AP) ― Cleveland Indians outfielder Choo Shin-soo hurt himself taking pregame swings and was a late scratch from the lineup to play the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday.
Moments before the game, the Indians announced the South Korean was not playing because of “left trunk soreness.” He was hurt taking batting practice in the indoor cages.
Choo homered twice on Tuesday, when he nearly missed the first game of a doubleheader to be with his wife and newborn daughter. He arrived an hour before game time and hit a three-run homer in the ninth as the Indians won the opener.
Choo missed seven weeks earlier this season with a broken thumb.
