Samsung Electronics is featuring high-quality solar cell technology at the Intersolar Europe 2011 held in Munich, Germany, from June 8-10.

Under the catchphrase of “Samsung Delivers High Efficiency,” the company presented solar modules, which were made through screen-printed solar cells, according to Samsung officials.

It will show 260-watt crystalline white commercial module and 250-watt premium black commercial module, as well as a 6-inch 275-watt HIT module, they said.

The event takes place at a time when many firms are betting on solar energy projects as solar power is projected to be one of the fastest-rising growth engines in the country.

According to a recent report published by the Korea Photovoltaic Industry Association, this year’s sales total of solar energy-related products from manufacturers is expected to surge to 10.42 trillion won ($9.68 billion), up from 5.9 trillion won on Wednesday last year.

Samsung’s products, which have achieved solar efficiency rate of over 19 percent, the highest rate among commercialized modules, will be released in the third quarter of this year.

The highly-efficient solar cells, which decrease the cost of energy, are a result of the screen-printed solar cells, said a Samsung official. On average, a cell has a solar efficiency rate of about 15 percent.

“We plan to actively expand the number of projects in the solar energy market, which is achieving more than 20 percent growth every year, by introducing highly-efficient and high quality products that go well with our brand,” said Choi Chang-sik, executive vice president of the solar energy business team at Samsung Electronics.
