A video showing the acute situation during the Japanese earthquake last month was recently uploaded on YouTube.
The video, filmed by a local resident in Minamisanriku region of Miyagi Prefecture, was made public on March 10. The five-minute video reveals how serious the situation was at the time.
From far away, a dark cloud of dust moves forward and transforms into a tsunami wave as it reaches the village. The tsunami eats up the village in a few seconds and continues to move forward in the direction of the hill where the filming is taking place. Houses are swallowed up entirely by the wave and residents desperately run for their lives. Those already taking refuge on the hill shout out for them to hurry.
The person who filmed the video said local residents who were running toward the hill in the video are all safe. The video has been seen by 350,000 people up to date.
