A 50-year-old housewife fell from a bridge over Cheonggye Stream late last night on the festive opening day of the stream. Her death cast a cloud on the celebrations that were marked with concerts and fireworks.
The woman fell 5.5 meters from the Samilgyo (bridge) in Pil-dong, Jung-gu, around 11 p.m. and was taken to the Seoul National University hospital where she died about five hours later.
The woman is reported to have lived in Mok-dong and was with others when the incident occurred.
