1. 이태원 살인사건 용의자 패터슨 송환

Itaewon murder suspect denies 18-year-old charges

[1] After nearly two decades including a botched initial investigation and series of trials, a movie and a reinvestigation, the murder that took place at a fast-food joint in Itaewon returned to the spotlight Wednesday with the extradition of the key U.S. suspect.

2. NASA, 화성 액체 상태 물 관측

기사요약: 미 항공우주국(NASA)은 지난 28일 화성 정찰 위성이 과염소산염으로 불리는 수분을 포함하고 있는 광물을 화성 표면에서 발견했다고 전했다. 화성 표면에 흐르는 물이 존재했던 흔적이 있다는 점은 2000년에, 얼음 형태로 물이 존재한다는 점은 2008년에 각각 밝혀졌으나, 액체 상태의 물이 지금도 흐른다는 증거가 제시된 것은 이번이 처음이다. 화성에 외계 생명이 존재할 가능성이 매우 커진 것. 또 앞으로 인간이 화성에 정착해 살 수 있다는 가능성을 제시한 것이어서 주목된다.





‘Strongest evidence’ of water on Mars

[1] Scientists on Monday announced “the strongest evidence yet” of liquid water on Mars, raising the distant prospect of microscopic life on the Red Planet.
