Volvo Car Korea on Sunday said it has extended warranties for the 2016 models or D-3 series to five years or 100,000km, from the previous three years or 60,000km.

The company will also guarantee free engine oil, oil filters, air conditioner filters, brake pads and wiper blades during the same period. Such perks can be transferred even if the car is sold to another person, the company said.

The longest warranty guaranteed among imported cars was designed to give a boost to the already thriving business -- Volvo Korea saw a 45.6 percent-growth between January and August compared to the same period last year.

The company plans to open three showrooms in Seoul and the metropolitan areas in the next 12 months while adding two repair centers to the showrooms.

Such aggressive investment comes in lieu with the launch of the Cross Country, which has infused the beauty of a wagon and the good performance of an SUV.

Based on the best-selling V60 wagon, the Cross Country offers a wider view with a road clearance 65mm higher than the V60, and has a lower overall height than the standard SUV lowering its center of mass.

The T5 AWD model of the Cross Country has a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with 254 horsepower, and the D4 AWD model has a 2.4-liter diesel engine with 190 horsepower.

The D4 model has a Drive-E Powertrain system that provides driving efficiency, with a 2.0 liter inline-four twin turbo diesel engine.

Both models have a Hill Descent Control that prevents accidents when driving downhill by automatically readjusting the transmission and speed.

The D4, D4 AWD and T5 AWD are sold at 52.2, 55.5 and 55.5 million won respectively as preorders, to be sold starting next month.
