EBay Korea, the operator of Korea’s largest online shopping site Gmarket and Auction.co.kr, signed a deal with the Small & Medium Business Corporation to support domestic small and medium-sized company’s online cross-border trade last week.

The pact will help vendors receive eBay For Business, a seven-month training and education program on cross-border commerce and marketing via the eBay platform. Launched in May, the program covers the areas of product sourcing, registration, logistics, delivery and customer service, with an eBay Korea consultant visiting the trainee for mentoring on a one-to-one basis.

“The eFB program aims at reinforcing the company’s export support and training programs. We will put all efforts into nurturing global sellers through it,” said Song Seung-hwan, head of eBay Korea’s cross-border trade department.

Another popular support program is the Global Export Platform, where vendors can list their goods to eBay around the world themselves. They are entitled to receive free online and off-line training as well as one-to-one consulting on international transactions.

Since its launch in 2011, the support training has encouraged burgeoning vendors to compete in reaching out to more people in need of fresh and affordable items from Korea.
