Nongshim, Korea’s leading ramen maker, unveiled Tuesday a spicy thick-noodle ramen targeting the young generation, company officials said.

Nongshim said it aims for Wooyooktangmyeon’s annual sales to reach 50 billion ($46.3 million) won and enter the top 10 best-selling ramen list by the end of the year.

The new noodle is 3 millimeters thick, about twice that of average noodles sold in South Korea.

“Wooyooktangmyeon is the result of Nongshim’s 50-year-long experience and know-how,” noodle marketing team manager Shim Gyu-chul said at a news conference in Seoul. “We have no doubt that this will help Nongshim survive for the next 50 years.”

Nongshim, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, is known for producing Shin Ramyun, Jjapaghetti and Neoguri, the top three ramens by sales, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ December data.

Wooyooktangmyeon’s price ranges between 960 and 1,200 won a pack depending on distribution channels.
