K-pop ballad quartet 2AM is gearing up to unveil its upcoming third full-length album by prereleasing its new single, “Days Like Today” on Monday. 

The group’s latest R&B ballad, which talks about one of those days when one just can’t help but think about a former lover, was composed and produced by JYP Entertainment CEO Park Jin-young. The track is the first single in five years on which the 2AM members ― Jo Kown, Junwoon, Seulong and Lee Changmin ― have collaborated with their CEO since the group’s debut single “This Song.” 

The new song comes off their “Let’s Talk” album, which is slated to be released in its entirety on Oct. 30. Shortly after prerelease, the track slowly started climbing the charts, reaching No. 1 on Genie and Olleh music, disrupting hip-hop trio Epik High’s weeklong reign at the top of the charts.

The official music video for “Days Like Today” was also released online Monday and features 63-year-old veteran actor Park Young-ji reminiscing about the one that got away.

The upcoming 14-track album “Let’s Talk” was produced by well-known ballad-singing brothers Cho Gyu-man and Gyu-chan and will mark the group’s first album release in nearly a year after the four members dropped their five-track EP “Nocturne” last fall.

As the representative male ballad act of JYP Entertainment, the group saw much success after debuting in 2008 as part of the subunit boy band One Day. In 2010, 2AM released its third EP “Never Let You Go.” Its eponymous lead track became an instant hit, and is to this day arguably the group’s most emblematic song.

Last year 2AM successfully left its mark in the Japanese music market, releasing its first full-length Japanese album, “The Voice,” in January. Upon its release, the album was ranked No. 1 on Japan’s Tower Records Album Chart, and a third-spot ranking on the Oricon Chart.

2AM’s new third album is said to feature a second lead track titled “Show Yourself,” which will be released with the rest of the album on Thursday.
