Lead actor Jung Il-woo and actor-singer Yunho of TVXQ set off to become night watchmen in the latest episode of MBC’s epic television series “The Night Watchman,” aired on Tuesday.

In the show, Prince Yi Lin (Jung) begins persuading swordsman Moo-suk (Yunho) to join him in fighting off the demon that has been spreading a fatal disease throughout the country. Moo-suk is skeptical about Yi Lin’s ghostbuster project at first, but is persuaded when he is reminded of his younger sister who died from the epidemic.

Thanks to the rising romantic tension between Yi Lin and Do-ha (Go Sung-hee), one of the two heroines, the Monday-Tuesday epic drama topped audience ratings over the Chuseok holiday season. The show’s audience rating hit 11.6 percent on Tuesday’s episode, beating SBS’ “Temptation” which had 8.3 percent and 7.7 percent gained by KBS’ “Discovery of Love,” according to media research firm Nielson Korea.

“The Night Watchman” is a period fantasy romance set in the Joseon era under the fictional King Haejong’s reign. Actor Jung Il-woo plays the lead alongside the other main characters played by Jung Yun-ho of boy band TVXQ, Go Sung-hee and Seo Yea-ji.
